Government Declares 20 Industrial and Infrastructure Projects as National Priority

Kathmandu: The government has decided to categorize 20 major industrial and infrastructure projects as national priority projects, including industrial villages, industrial zones, special economic zones, dry ports, petroleum pipelines, and private sector-operated cable car projects.
Decision to Publish in Nepal Gazette
Announcing the Cabinet decisions taken on Bhadra 29, Minister for Communications and Information Technology and government spokesperson Prithvi Subba Gurung said that the decision to prioritize these projects will be published in the Nepal Gazette.
Social Media Regulation
The Council of Ministers has also decided to make social media operators accountable under the Directive 2080 on the Management of Social Media Use and in compliance with a Supreme Court order. Operators have been given a seven-day deadline to apply for official listing with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
Social media platforms failing to comply will be gradually deactivated within Nepal, while those listed will be reactivated immediately.
Organizational Surveys and Military Promotions
The Cabinet has granted prior approval for conducting an organizational and management survey of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Management and its subordinate agencies.
Similarly, four senior officers of the Nepal Army have been transferred, and promotions have been approved for one officer each to the rank of lieutenant, assistant lieutenant, and colonel.
International Participation Approved
The meeting has approved the participation of key officials in several international forums:
Dr. Rajendra Prasad Mishra, Secretary of the Ministry of Forests and Environment, will attend an agreement signing program with the Global Green Growth Institute in Seoul, Korea, from Bhadra 16 to 18.
Minister of State for Forests and Environment Rupa B.K. will represent Nepal at the 6th Forum of Ministers and Environment Authorities of Asia Pacific in Nadi, Fiji, from Bhadra 10 to 13.
Bishwa Babu Pudasaini, Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, will attend the 69th IAEA General Conference in Vienna from Bhadra 30 to Asoj 3.
Appointments and Approvals
The government has promoted Indra Prasad Acharya to the vacant post of Deputy Auditor General in the special category gazetted post of Nepal Audit Service.
Additionally, academic leave submitted by Bharatmani Subedi, Secretary of the National Natural Resources and Finance Commission, has been approved.
